David
Kuhner’s first exposure to the accounting profession
came through his father, who was a founding partner of Alexander
Grant & Company’s (now Grant Thorton) Los Angeles office.
He was in his first year of law school when he went to work in
the San Francisco office of Ernst & Ernst (now Ernst & Young)
on a part-time basis. The year was 1963 and over the past 40-plus
years, he has provided tax, consulting, audit, review and compilation
services to a variety of individuals, corporations, privately
held businesses, trusts and estates.
“This work is exhilarating,
challenging and fun,” Kuhner
says. “I like the challenge of satisfying clients by solving
problems with innovative solutions. The complexities of the business
world have grown exponentially and finding resolutions that help
clients in the solution of their problems is a guiding principle
of mine.
“I believe we are working to be of service to our
clients,” he
continues. “This has never been just a job for me — it’s
an adventure and something I look forward to doing every day.
That’s especially true here, because I work with a great
group of people and a great group of partners.”
In addition
to a Bachelors of Science in Economics degree Kuhner earned from
St. Mary’s College of California, he received
a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Golden Gate University in San
Francisco. He is both a Certified Public Accountant and a member
of the California Bar. He has also taken many advanced taxation
and accounting post graduate courses.
David has written articles
as well as delivered speeches on various income and estate planning
topics. His experiences also involve litigation support services,
including work as an expert witness in numerous cases over the
years.
Beyond his time at the office, David and his wife are avid
travelers, having seen much of the world. When they are at home,
they enjoy spending time with their children — there are 10 of them — and
their grandchildren.
